Permalinks to demonstrate learning outcomes
Explain and discuss practical and theoretical aspects of HCI interaction.
This blog entry discusses the HCI principles of different methods for UCD and the initial creative approach. It also discusses different ways of creating the persona.

This blog discusses the design principles that were discussed as a group and which were followed in the creation of the prototypes

Whilst this blog primarily deals with research in the area of GPS systems, it also states the aims of the final prototype to fit in broadly with Fitt’s Law.

This blog followed on from the discussion of different methods of evaluating the final prototype and creating some valid empirical evidence from this.

The following blogs all look at the different types of products that are already present on the market for each of the main sections that were identified. These analyse the existing products based on various HCI products, looking at which parts of the products are though to conform well to HCI principles and which don’t.

Apply HCI Principles to practical problems
This blog shows the results of the brainstorming session that was held. After a discussion of the various different types of creative methods available, brainstorming was decided upon being the most effective in this initial stage, with any idea about anything being permitted. The write up for this is found at;
http://msc-hci-project-2007.blogspot.com/2007/01/2nd-meeting-30th-jan-07.html
and the photographs of the brainstorm diagram at;

The following blog entries all contain various prototypes that were designed using HCI principles gained through research;

Each of these prototypes were then analysed using various different evaluation techniques.

This blog entry shows some of the videos that were created as part of an immersion into the user’s world. These were created following on from the definition of the persona’s to help identify what other problems an older person may have that hadn’t been though of.

The following two blogs show the creation of the two persona’s that were used as the basis for the design of the prototype. These were created using the persona design methods put forward by Pruit and Grundin.

Participate in analysis and design work in HCI.
The following blogs all show the participation of each team member in the design of their own prototype.
