Observations from a Cognitive Walkthrough Evaluation for the Emergency Help prototype

  • To enter the emergency screen the user presses a big red button, the function of which is obvious
  • In the main screen the buttons are slightly confusing, being of different sizes and styles
  • The font used is quite small, it's a bit of a struggle to see
  • The depictions used on the emergency services buttons are inconsistent, some are photos some symbols
  • Each button has a different major colour. The fire button seems particularly large
  • The cancel button is green, which gives the impression that it should make the programme continue, not halt
  • Having opted to contact one of the emergency services a clear message is displayed informing the user what action has been taken.
  • A slight irritation is that after calling for help there is no way of returning to any of the menus.
