Aims: To discuss and come up with 2 personas.
Persona 1: Ethyl Rose
Dob: 4th February 1928 (aged 79).
Lives: In Sherborne, Dorset in sheltered accommodation.
General Information: She used to drive but has had to stop because she has become quite frail. She enjoyed driving but hasn't driven for 7 years. She was evacuated to Dorset during the war and returned there to retire. Her husband died of a stroke 2 years ago. He used to drive when she couldn't. She used to have a cat but it died so she has become increasingly lonely.
Occupation: She used to be a nurse and also spent a lot of her time bringing up her children.
Hobbies: Crosswords, countdown, volunteering in a British Heart Foundation charity shop.
Attitude to Technology: Cautiously positive. She is not overly experienced but can surf the Internet and check her email. She can also view her bank details online. However she is not confident configuring anything and cannot fix things when they go wrong.
Children: She has 2 children who pay for her sheltered accommodation.

Blasted computer crashed. Right - here's my second attempt at some refinements to the personas:
Persona 1: Ethyl Rose
Gender: Female
DOB: 4th February 1928 (age 79)
Marital status: Widowed
Residence: Sherborne, Dorset
Occupation: Nurse (retired)
Children: Roger (age 54) and Margaret (age 49)
Hobbies: Crosswords, word games, especially those on Countdown. Helps in a BHF shop in town.
General:
Ethyl was born and raised a Protestant in the city of Bristol. At the onset of the war, she was evacuated to Dorset, where she met her husband-to-be, Fred. Fred, an evacuee from Southampton, took care of Ethyl during her time as an evacuee.
After the war, Ethyl returned to her family, with a promise to meet Fred again. She fulfilled this promise a few years later, moving to Southampton as a qualified nurse. Fred and Ethyl married and settled down, Fred working as a teacher and Ethyl nursing, until the birth of their first child, Roger, in 1953. Ethyl then moved to part-time work, to spend time at home looking after Roger, and then their daughter Margaret, born in 1958.
When the children moved out and started families of their own, Fred and Ethyl retired, and returned to Dorset, where they first met each other. They lived happily there until 2005, when Fred died of a stroke. By this point, Ethyl's health had deteriorated to the point where she was concerned about living on her own, and so with the support of her children, she moved into sheltered accommodation.
Motivation:
Ethyl's mobility has waned, and she feels that she is losing her independence. Although she learned to drive in the 1960s, she suffers from impeded muscle control in her feet and hands, leaving her unable to properly control a car. She feels lonely, as she is not confident enough to venture out alone very often, and her children are often busy and cannot visit as often as she'd like. She is also finding it harder to attend her volunteer job at the BHF shop, again due to her lack of transport.
